Online Nutrition Counseling for Teens & Adults

I provide online nutrition counseling in Seattle WA. I am a health at every size (haes) nutritionist also known as a weight neutral provider. Foundations of my practice come from approaches based in Intuitive Eating, and the Ellyn Satter Institute.

How does online nutrition counseling with me work?

My speciality is healing and protecting relationships with food and body— this is fundamental to this practice. Doing nutrition online counseling with me is about accessing the big picture of your health. I am interested in putting the puzzle pieces together to figure out how to find balance with eating for your specific nutrition concern.

I provide extensive education on what balanced eating really looks like based on current research, as well as the psychology of eating. This practice is a combination of years of undergraduate and masters level nutrition education, the mentorship I’ve received, plus years of experience learning what works and what doesn’t work working with my beloved clients. Counseling is also a key part of my online nutrition counseling process—you can’t take the counselor out of the nutrition counselor!

Can you help me with managing my diabetes, IBS, cholesterol, or blood sugar?

Yes! I have experience working with all the above. The difference with me is that I don’t prescribe diets, or cut food groups out as a way of managing these conditions. The work I do is going to be really zoomed out at the big picture of your health and these conditions as a part of your health picture. I have a priority for preserving relationships with food as we manage these conditions, so my eye is always on ways we can support your health condition and still allow freedom and flexibility in the diet.

Here are my specialties:

  • Adolescents, young adults, & adults

  • Eating disorders (binge eating disorder, ARFID, anorexia nervosa, orthorexia, atypical anorexia)

  • Disordered eating & relationship with food, body, and sport

  • Chronic dieting/yo-yo dieting

  • Intuitive eating

  • Mental health (supporting anxiety, ADHD, & depression)

  • Gastrointestinal issues

  • Cardio-metabolic health: PCOS, pre-diabetes & type 2 diabetes

Here are the treatment types and theories I frequently rely on as an online nutrition counselor:

  • Ellen Satter’s division of responsibility

  • HAES (health at every size)

  • Intuitive Eating

  • Internal Family Systems for eating disorders

  • Family based treatment for eating disorders

  • RO-DBT for eating disorders

What is my role in online eating disorder treatment?

Standard of care for eating disorder treatment is to have a nutritionist/dietitian, a therapist, and a doctor on your care team if possible. As the online nutritionist I am here to help with the following:

  • Assess adequacy of food intake

  • Give nutrition education and sometimes meal plans to ensure you are well nourished and not falling into the restrict-binge cycle

  • Educate, strategize, and guide parents in re-feeding pre-teens and teens with eating disorders

  • Support you as you make peace with “fear foods” or “safe foods.” (Sometimes eating together over our video session)

  • Provide online counseling to understand your eating disorder, and to work through moments when you might feel stuck in recovery

  • To collaborate care with your other providers so we are all on the same page!
